The initial price of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 in India is Rs 2,39,000. Compared to the Triumph Speed 400, which costs Rs 2,34,497 (ex-showroom Delhi), it is Rs 4,503 more expensive. Design
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 boasts a chic neo-roadster style and is available in five vibrant colors: Brava Blue, Gold Dip, Playa Black, Smoke Silver, and Yellow Ribbon. The Hunter 350 served as inspiration for the front-end design, which includes a sculpted fuel tank, a single-piece handlebar, round mirrors, and sleek LED indicators in addition to a round LED headlight. The sleek tail section features an expanded number plate mount, elegant indicators, and a slim LED tail light, giving it a similar appearance to the Himalayan 450. It also has an exhaust with a chrome finish, just like the Himalayan 450.
The larger Triumph roadsters‘ design language is also present in the neo-retro roadster style of the Triumph Speed 400. The 400cc roadster has elegant indicators and a round LED headlight. It has bar-end mirrors, a single-piece handlebar, and an inverted fork with a gold finish that all blend well with its overall style. Its sleek and uncomplicated back end features an upswept exhaust and an elongated number plate holder that houses the indicators. The Speed 400 is available in three colours: Carnival Red/Phantom Black, Caspian Blue/Storm Grey, and Phantom Black/Storm Grey.
Engine
The Guerrilla 450 is equipped with a 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 40.02PS at 8000rpm and 40Nm at 5500rpm. On the other hand, the 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine powering the Speed 400 generates 40PS at 8000 rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500 rpm.
Features
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is equipped with LED lighting all around .The base model comes with an optional tripper navigation pod and shares a semi-digital instrument console with the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. In contrast, the Himalayan 450 and its mid and top models come with the same circular 4-inch TFT display that supports complete Google Maps navigation.
The Triumph Speed 400 also has an all-LED lighting setup and gets a semi-digital instrument cluster but lacks smartphone connectivity and navigation features.The digital display has several indicators, such as the odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, trip meter, gear position indication, distance-to-empty reading, and other warning lights, whereas the analogue portion simply has a speedometer. In addition, the Speed 400 has a switchable traction control system and a USB-C charging connector. Saddlebags and heated grips are among the numerous optional extras that come with it.
Underpinnings
The Guerrilla 450′s frame is made of tubular steel. It has a link-type monoshock (150mm wheel travel) and a 43mm telescopic fork (140mm wheel travel). Dual-channel ABS is standard, and 310mm front and 270mm rear discs are used for braking. It has 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tires on the front and 160 sections on the back. The Guerrilla has a kerb weight of 185 kg, an 11-liter fuel tank, a seat height of 780 mm, and 169 mm of ground clearance.
The rear subframe is bolted to a hybrid spine/perimeter tubular steel frame that is fitted to the Speed 400. The bike features a preload adjustable gas-charged monoshock with 130mm of wheel travel and a 43mm inverted big piston fork with 140mm of wheel travel. With 17-inch alloy wheels and 110-section front and 150-section rear Apollo Alpha H1 tubeless tires, the British roadster is ready to go. It gets a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Speed 400 has a 13-litre fuel tank, 795mm seat height and weighs 176kg (kerb).
Verdict
Although both bikes are aesthetically pleasing and have remarkable performance, the Guerrilla 450 is distinguished by its advanced amenities, which include smartphone connectivity, navigation, and riding modes, as well as its little higher power output. Larger disc brakes and better suspension are also features. Conversely, the Triumph Speed 400 weighs 9 kg less than the Guerrilla and boasts a larger fuel tank with switchable traction control. Additionally, it comes with optional accessories such as heated grips and saddlebags
So, If you prefer a modern-looking neo-roadster with advanced features, the Guerrilla 450 is a great choice. However, if you like your bike to have simple features and don’t mind the absence of smartphone connectivity and navigation, then the Speed 400 is a great option.
