Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today inspected the construction of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach at the Bharat Earth Movers Limited’s (BEML) facility in Bengaluru. In the next three months, the train will be open.
Vande Bharat sleeper coach will undergo trials and tests for ten days before being rolled out. In the next three months, it will open for passenger operation.
We were working on Vande Bharat sleeper cars after Vande Bharat chair cars. Its manufacturing has now been completed. He also said that this train will go out for the trial and testing from the BEML facility today.
Key Features Of Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach
The maximum speed will be 160 kilometers per hour, an official release said. The 16 coaches of the Vande Bharat train are meant for overnight journeys covering 800 km to 1,200 km. The oxygen level inside the train and virus protection, a lesson learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, are added features of the train.
It will be a train affordable for the middle class and the fares will be well matched with Rajdhani Express.
The interiors will have GFRP panels, a modular pantry, special berths, and toilets for differently abled and automatic exterior passenger doors.
A sensor-based interior, an unsmelly toilet system, a shower with hot water in 1st AC car, remotely operated fire barrier doors at the end wall, an integrated Reading light with USB Charging provision, and spacious luggage room are among the other salient features of the train.
The series of production will start once the prototypes of Vande Bharat sleeper cars are properly tested.
The union minister said to PTI that the series of production will start after one and a half years. Thereafter, every month two to three the trains will start rolling out practically.
