Why is Ganesh Mahotsav Celebrated for Ten Days
The ten-day celebration of Ganesh Utsav is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. According to the Ved Puranas, the festival celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, also known as the god of wisdom and remover of obstacles.
Sage Vyasa invited Lord Ganesha to transcribe the Mahabharata, as per the Legend, and Ganesha wrote continuously for ten days. He bathed in the Saraswati River, after completing this task, which must have inspired the tradition of celebrating Ganesh Utsav for ten days, is the belief.
But people should be aware of certain guidelines during Ganeshotsav, while performing puja rituals and whatever they do from bringing Ganpati at home till Ganpati Visarjan are to be followed.
