Badlapur Protest After Badlapur School Case
In Badlapur, the parents of the girl went to the police station to complain at midday on August 16. They had to wait for twelve hours, though. On Saturday night, after midnight a formal report was eventually made when the perpetrator was apprehended.
Outrage at the police’s slow response to the incident grew as word of it spread. Locals used social media to denounce the police and call for responsibility from the administration of the school as well as the officer in charge of the delay. The situation worsened when women’s organizations declared a Badlapur bandh on Tuesday.
The principal, the classroom teacher, and the female attendant were all disciplined by the school administration for their failure to safeguard the students. Also, The accused sweeper’s employment agreement was canceled.
A sizable contingent of demonstrators, many of whom were parents of children, gathered outside the school on Tuesday morning. The bandh caused a complete shutdown of the city and halted autorickshaw services. Vehicles were not allowed to enter the city, therefore people had to walk the distance between Badlapur and Ambarnath’s boundary.
More than 2,000 men and women blocked the railroad tracks on Tuesday as a result of the Badlapur school sexual assault case, which caused a 10-hour train disruption. The protest led to the total closure of Badlapur; not even the autorickshaws continued to operate.
A group of parents and locals stormed the school where two young girls had been sexually abused. Around 2,000 people reportedly gathered outside the school around 6:30 in the morning, demanding to speak with the administration, according to the police.
