As part of its efforts to modernize the Games and draw in a younger audience, the International Olympic Committee has decided to include breaking sport in the Olympics. The competitors referred to as “b-boys” and “b-girls,” will compete against one another in events that are scored according to musicality, technique, and inventiveness.
Dancers from all over the world will be showcasing their creative and athletic abilities via both solo and team contests in the Olympic style. The inclusion of breaking in the Summer Olympics is a huge turning point for the dance community as it gives this colorful and culturally diverse form of expression international prominence.
