Para-equestrian Rules
There is just one Para-equestrian discipline at the Paralympic Games, dressage, in contrast to three at the Olympics. Paralympic equestrian assesses both the horses and the riders. This unique tournament honors the extraordinary talent and bond between horse and rider.
Equestrian sports are judged based on a variety of factors, including the horse’s stride and stops, artistic refinement, accuracy, and riding skill, according to the official website, Olympics.com. The Para-equestrian is scheduled from 3 to 7 September at the Paris Paralympics 2024.
Para-equestrian History
Para-dressage started as a recreational sport, but in 1970 it added recognized contests. Para-dressage ended up being a part of the Paralympic program for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
The individual championship test and the individual freestyle test are part of the Para-equestrian Paris 2024 schedule. The Olympics website lists the following disabilities as qualifying for the competition: cerebral palsy, paraplegia, quadriplegia, hemiplegia, orthopedic impairments, neurological disorders, and vision impairments.
Today marks the ninth day of the Paralympics, with the equestrian events scheduled to take place. India is now ranked 17th in the overall standings with a total of 27 medals—six gold, nine silver, and twelve bronze.
