TCS setting up : Millions of Indian users should soon be able to access faster, more dependable internet services as BSNL and its partners move forward with the installation and rollout. This will promote greater digital inclusion and economic development throughout the nation.
The Tata Group is reportedly starting a new project to improve mobile connectivity throughout the nation through its flagship IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). According to reports, TCS has signed a significant Rs 15,000-crore deal with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to roll out a strong 4G network across India. It is anticipated that this strategic alliance will transform the country’s mobile internet speeds and create the foundation for upcoming 5G capabilities.
Expanding 4G reach to rural areas
Through the bold project, TCS and BSNL hope to connect over 1,000 villages to high-speed 4G, greatly improving the quality of mobile internet services in the nation’s rural areas.
According to additional reports, BSNL is preparing to build reliable communication networks across the nation to link different district and tehsil offices, improving administrative accessibility and efficiency even more.
Data centres and network deployment
TCS is establishing sizable data centers in four different parts of the nation as part of the agreement. These data centers will be essential to the 4G infrastructure’s support as well as the seamless upkeep and operation of the network.
The extensive network needed to deliver nationwide 4G and future 5G services was also included in the deployment plan.
With the installation of over 9,000 towers for 4G services across the nation, BSNL has already made notable progress in this regard. Its current focus is primarily on reaching a wider audience by deploying 4G services at one lakh more locations, with the goal of completing a nationwide rollout by August 2024.
Collaborations and plans
In addition to this partnership, two other government-owned companies that have received sizable orders from BSNL are Tejas Networks and ITI.
These companies have been collaborating with TCS to implement a 4G network that is scalable and capable of smoothly transferring to 5G technology in the future. Together, these efforts will represent orders worth nearly Rs 19,000 crore.
This collaboration demonstrates TCS’s dedication to using technology to promote digital inclusion and connectivity throughout the nation. TCS, which had a market valuation of Rs 14.08 lakh crore on June 9, 2024, will work with BSNL and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) to carry out this ground-breaking project.
Strategic importance for India’s digital future
In order to close the digital gap and improve connectivity throughout the nation, BSNL and TCS have deployed a 4G network.
This project will promote digital literacy, education, and economic growth by bringing high-speed internet services to rural and isolated areas. Furthermore, it will be in line with India’s goal of empowering society through digital means and pave the way for a future switch to 5G.
