Vivo V40 Pro review: With the release of the Vivo V30 series earlier this year, Vivo extended its cooperation with ZEISS to the more accessible V series for the first time. The goal was to increase public accessibility to ZEISS-powered cameras.
The V30 Pro performed admirably when it came to the camera, making it a “great choice for camera enthusiasts.” However, it wasn’t the ideal phone because it only had an IP54 classification and didn’t have dual speakers. After five months, the Vivo V40 Pro 5G has arrived to bridge those gaps and progress toward its goal of becoming the ideal mid-range phone.
Vivo V40 Pro Review
Even though the Vivo V40 Pro 5G was released only a few months after the V30 Pro, it has several enhancements and additions that make it worthwhile to purchase. Stereo speakers and an improved IP rating—the two areas where the V30 Pro seemed inadequate—have been addressed in the replacement.
A larger battery, some excellent ZEISS-backed cameras, and an amazing Dimensity 9200+ chipset are all included with the Vivo V40 Pro. The Vivo V40 Pro price in India is Rs. 49,999 and is available on Flipkart and Vivo’s official website.
Vivo V40 Pro Design
Vivo has always placed a strong emphasis on design, regardless of the series, but the V series in particular is where the brand tends to push things. The thinnest phone is the V40 Pro, which has a 5,500mAh battery and a thickness of 7.58mm.
Vivo V40 Pro’s weight is just 192 grams with a 5,500mAh battery, it is also among the lightest phones. It feels pleasant in the hand without being weighty or sharp because the edges of the front and rear glass panels are curved, and the frame is softened as well.
The camera module of the Vivo V40 Pro is more circular than the V30 Pro’s, which opted for a rather square design. With two cameras located in the top circular module and a third camera and aura LED ring in the bottom one, Vivo refers to this design as the Infinity Eye Camera Module.

Vivo V40 Pro Display
Except for increasing the maximum brightness, the Vivo V40 Pro’s display is essentially identical to that of its predecessor. It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz that is FHD+ (2,800 x 1,260).
The maximum brightness support increases from 2800 nits to 4500 nits. Let’s just say that when viewing HDR material on compatible services like Netflix and Outside, the screen gets quite bright. All in all, it’s a visually appealing display with excellent colors and viewing angles.
The V40 Pro 2024 protects the display with a Schott Alpha Glass sheet, just like the V30 Pro. With a screen-to-body ratio of 93%, it is arguably the highest in this market thanks to its extremely tiny bezels. All things considered, the V40 Pro has a tall and broad display for watching media, great brightness and viewing angles outside, and a lightweight yet durable construction for a comfortable grip.
Cameras
With the excellent camera system of the V30 Pro, Vivo didn’t need to make many changes to the V40 Pro. There are four 50MP cameras overall, all supported by ZEISS: a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 50MP selfie camera, a 50MP portrait Sony IMX816 lens with support for 2x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom, and a 50MP primary camera using Sony’s IMX921 sensor with optical image stabilization. Vivo made the V series more widely available by bringing its relationship with ZEISS to the V30 Pro, V40, and V40 Pro.
Features like Multifocal Portrait photography, which effectively allows you to conveniently take portraits and multiple focal lengths (24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm), are made possible by the ZEISS alliance and are available on the Vivo V40 series.
There are the ZEISS portrait styles, which provide customized backdrop blur styles to fit your preferences. These include Biotar, B-speed, Sonnar, Planar, Distagon, Cine-flare, and Cinematic. Having these options is wonderful, especially if you enjoy taking a lot of pictures of yourself.
Performance and software
The Vivo V40 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor, which was introduced as a more potent variant of the Dimensity 9200 SoC last year. It provides a 10% increase in CPU and GPU performance over the previous model. The AnTuTu Score of the Vivo V40 Pro is nearly 1,590,000.
At a maximum clock speed of 3.35GHz, the octa-core processor powers the Vivo V40 Pro, making it one of the quickest phones in its category. the score is far higher than that of the Vivo V30 Pro, which was powered by the Dimensity 8200 and scored 9,48,361 on AnTuTu. With the Vivo V40 Pro, Vivo is guaranteeing 4 years of security patches and 3 years of major OS updates.
Nowadays, the majority of phones—especially expensive ones—promote AI capabilities for a variety of common use cases, such as page summarization, prompt-based image generation, built-in Gemini AI assistant, and so forth. The Vivo V40 Pro, however, is strangely lacking in these features. For the camera, you do get a few AI functions, but nothing more.
Battery
The Vivo V40 Pro now boasts a 5,500mAh battery, up from 5,000mAh in the V30 Pro. We are happy about the 500mAh boost because it should result in longer battery life for daily use. These days, you can easily use your device for more than a full day on a single charge and still have plenty remaining in the tank at night.
Vivo V40 Pro Final Review
The price of the Vivo V40 Pro is Rs 49,999 which is higher than its predecessor. However, a few notable improvements, including the addition of stereo speakers and a significantly higher IP certification, make this price increase reasonable.
The dark horse that shocked us with its performance is the Dimensity 9200+ chipset, which topped Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 phones in benchmarks. The pricing of the V40 Pro may deter potential buyers, especially in light of more reasonably priced smartphones like the Xiaomi 14 Civi and Realme GT 6.
Nevertheless, the Vivo V40 Pro presents a comprehensive package with an expansive and luminous display, good specifications and features, a robust and lightweight construction, remarkable functionality, excellent ZEISS-backed cameras, and a consistent battery life. It is unquestionably a worthy V30 Pro replacement.
