The Vivo V40, the company’s newest camera-focused smartphone, has just debuted in India. Zeiss-powered lenses are included, providing premium optics at a mid-range price. Vivo V40 vs OnePlus Nord 4 But how does it stack up against the OnePlus Nord 4 from its sibling brand? Since both are made for distinct uses, let’s determine which one, based on your demands, you should purchase.
Vivo V40 vs OnePlus Nord 4: If Camera Is Your Priority, Vivo Could Be the Better Choice
In the world of Android phones, Vivo is renowned for producing some of the best cameras. Its top-tier flagships not only boast cutting-edge hardware, but some of the most sophisticated mobile shooters can now be found on them thanks to new AI software features. Now, Vivo has also extended some of this magic to mid-range devices, first with the Vivo V30 Pro and now with the V40 series.
The 50MP Zeiss wide angle camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), the 50MP Zeiss ultra-wide camera with 112 degree field of view, and the 50MP 2X telephoto camera make up the triple camera system of the Vivo V40. The OnePlus Nord 4, on the other hand, has two cameras: an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a primary 50MP Sony LYTIA sensor with OIS. On paper, you can see from the outset that the Vivo is more concerned with providing a good photography experience.
Additionally, it has a more feature-rich portrait mode that offers portraits in the Zeiss style. It features bokeh done in the Zeiss Distagon, B-speed, and Biotar styles, among others. Furthermore, the OnePlus Nord 4’s camera performance should have been improved, and it is not the best in this category, according to our testing at HT Tech. For those seeking a device with a focus on the camera, the Vivo V40 is unquestionably a better choice.
Vivo V40 vs OnePlus Nord 4: The Performance Game
The OnePlus Nord 4 excels in performance. It is perfect for performance-oriented jobs like gaming and content editing because it has the newest Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, which is built on the 4nm architecture. You also get steady performance with up to 12GB of RAM (the base model has 8GB). According to our tests, it also multitasks well and does so without heating up.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is also included in the Vivo V40, making it similarly capable in most situations where speed is a top concern. Performance-wise, there shouldn’t be much of a difference between the Vivo V40 and the OnePlus Nord 4, but it’s too soon to say for sure. Watch for our HT Tech review, which will be out soon.
Regarding the battery, the 5,500 mAh battery found in the OnePlus Nord 4 and the Vivo V40 is similar, but the charging speeds are different. The Vivo V40 supports 80W fast charging, whereas the OnePlus Nord 4 offers 100W fast charging.]
Vivo V40 vs OnePlus Nord 4: Design and Display
The OnePlus Nord 4 is more resilient than other smartphones since it has a return to a metallic unibody design and sticks out in a sea of glass slab devices. Its design sets it apart from the majority of smartphones in the same price range, including the Vivo V40. The OnePlus Nord 4 has a 6.7-inch flat 120Hz ProXDR AMOLED panel for its display.
The 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen on the Vivo V40 has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 4500 nits, which is higher than the 2150 nits on the OnePlus Nord 4. Unlike the metallic OnePlus Nord 4, it has a more conventional design approach because the back panel is made of glass. Nevertheless, since design is arbitrary, neither choice is bad. For those who favor a glass back and curved display, the Vivo V40 is the best option. Nonetheless, the OnePlus Nord 4 is a fantastic option if you’d like to give metal phones another go and are nostalgic for phones from the past ten years, like the OnePlus 3.
Vivo V40 vs OnePlus Nord 4: Price
The base 8GB+128GB Vivo V40 model costs ₹34,999, while the top-tier 12GB+512GB variant costs ₹41,999. This indicates that it costs more than the OnePlus Nord 4, which has a starting price of ₹29,999 for the 8GB+128GB model and an upper price of ₹35,999 for the 12GB+256GB model.
Having said that, there isn’t a definite winner just yet. The phone you choose should be based on your needs and preferences. If you’re searching for a camera-focused gadget that costs less than ₹40,000, the Vivo V40 is a good choice. However, the OnePlus Nord 4 might be a better option for you if you want a metallic look, a flat display, robust performance, and—possibly—a cleaner software experience with OxygenOS.
